(RANDOM RATIONAL THOUGHTS AT WORK)
These ongoing series of objects represent thoughts that were conceived while working at office hours, either doing miscellaneous tasks or repetitive chores. Each object is the materialization of a catharsis that was provoked by the limitations that residential developer type projects represent.
Several times, certain types of projects are over constrained or restricted in order to satisfy client interests and investment return. Sadly, that is translated into a transfiguration of the architectural design of the building. These objects surge after suffering the lack of freedom sometimes faced while exercising the profession. These objects try to imagine a limitless architecture that preserves a rational base in its core. A certain type of design that could still be possible with the right client.
Taking inspiration from anywhere and everywhere at the same time. From natural aspects as a volcano that then becomes the profile and shape of a roof to a snake that bends around tree branches and inspires a single non interrupted longitudinal space. A tower that resembles a tree and hosts trees in its interior, or a magnified chemical molecule that functions as an urban playground for adults.
In the other hand, the character of the images is meant to resemble a toy, a cartoon of architecture that yet looks possible. An escape from the routine and the formality of the professional field of architecture, but that still is not floating in the emptiness of space or lands into the irrational category.
Perhaps architecture should express more freedom, perhaps it must be more experimental, yet functional and rational, perhaps architectural design is just a random rationalized thought.
